Caring for someone can often mean having to make regular trips to the nearest hospital for appointments and check-ups. To try and make transportation and parking information a little easier to navigate we’ve compiled all you need to know in a handy guide.
The Carers Emergency Card is an initiative run by Wiltshire Council. It will identify you as a carer in the event of an accident or emergency. It is a credit card size so it will fit in a wallet or purse; there is also a key ring issued and additional card for use in a car or your home. They only have your unique PIN number and contact details for the Carers’ Emergency Scheme. No personal information is recorded on the card. The leaflet below gives more details about this free scheme.

You can request a registration form to be sent to you by post please send your details to [email protected] or telephone 0800 066 5068.
Medical Alert & Personal Alarm Services
If you are able to leave the person you care for at any given time you will want peace of mind that they can alert someone if they are in need of urgent help and assistance.
That's where a medical alert service comes in useful. There are many of these services that cover the Wiltshire area so we have produced a handy guide so that you compare what they offer and choose one that's right for you and the person you care for.
The Blue Badge Scheme (formerly the Orange Badge Scheme) provides considerable parking concessions for people with severe walking difficulties who travel as either drivers or passengers.
The badge is issued solely for the use of the disabled person; however applications from the public will also be considered where difficulty in walking is intermittent.
As of 1st February 2012, the charge for a new blue badge is £10.
You can complete this request form to request a full Blue Badge application form or you can complete a online application form at DirectGov.
