Carer Support Wiltshire is supporting Carers Week
6th-12th June
Carers Week is an annual awareness campaign to bring caring right out into the open – recognising and celebrating the contribution carers make to families and communities throughout the UK.
Caring is part of being human and at the heart of family life. As our population ages and people live longer, often with complex health conditions, more and more of us will find ourselves caring. Yet many still see caring as a private matter. Many people don’t identify themselves as carers, they feel they are just doing what anyone else would so they don’t always know what support is available to them.
Building Carer Friendly Communities
The focus for Carers Week is on Building Carer Friendly Communities – places where local people and services support carers to look after their loved ones, while recognising that carers are individuals with needs of their own.
All of us, wherever we live, whatever we do, have a part to play.
Get involved
We are celebrating the end of Carers Week with our Walk a Mile in My Shoes sponsored walk on Sunday 12th June. Register your place now and show your support for carers in Wiltshire. Find out more here.
Help build Carer Friendly Communities by recommending organisations, services and employers who are already carer friendly and invite other organisations to use the Carers Week checklist to commit to becoming carer friendly. You can find out more here.
