Have Your Say: Support for unpaid carers in Wiltshire

What is the project?
On behalf of Wiltshire Council and NHS Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group, Healthwatch Wiltshire (HWW) has agreed to independently facilitate an engagement project looking at support for unpaid carers.

Why are they doing this?
Given the new duties of the Care Act it is important that the services on offer are meeting the needs of carers. HWW wants to understand whether the services on offer are
meeting the needs of carers, and specifically what services would make the most positive impact to carers who require immediate support.

How will we get the information?
HWW will work with specialist voluntary sector organisations where appropriate, to engage with their members and service users.

HWW wants to engage with:

  • Adult carers of adults (including carers in work, carers from BME groups and military carers)
  • Parent carers
  • Young carers
  • Carers of people with mental ill health
  • Carers of people who misuse substances
  • Elderly carers of adults
  • Carers of people living with dementia

HWW will run focus groups in May, and an online survey will also be available for carers to complete at a later date.

Focus Groups will be held on the following dates:

6th May, 10am - 12pm, Semington
6th May 2pm - 4pm, Chippenham
8th May 10am - 12pm, Salisbury
13th May 2pm - 4pm, Pewsey
15th May 10am - 12pm, Melksham
15th May 2pm - 4pm, Melksham

HWW will collect together all the feedback it receives to produce a report that will help with the decision making process.
