Malcolm was diagnosed with early onset dementia 5 years ago when he was only 47.
He was very sad when three years ago he was no longer able to carry on working as a technician at the TT workshops in Westbury because his greatest passion in life has always been classic cars.
Bachelor, Malcolm, lives at home with his widowed 88 year old mother, Joan, who is his carer.
Although Joan acts as the ‘prompt’ for Malcolm in his day to day routines, he in turn acts as the strong ‘pair of hands’ for his Mum when they go off to do their weekly shopping at Sainsbury’s or mow their very long patch of lawn.
As it is a while since Joan completed her own carer assessment, a support worker from Carer Support Wiltshire is going to visit her and Malcolm at home. We will make sure that they have all the advice and guidance they need to make plans for their future.
Joan recently enjoyed her first ever pampering session at Carer Support Wiltshire’s Semington office and is hopefully going to enjoy a cream tea in early summer at Cleeve House.
