How Volunteers Can Help

Event Volunteer

We are looking for lots of lovely people to help us at Carer Support Wiltshire events - to raise awareness of and support for unpaid carers in Wiltshire. It might be a fundraising event like our Walk a Mile in My Shoes sponsored walk or an awareness raising event where we need help in managing an information stand.

Event volunteer role description

Minutes Secretary to the Board of Trustees

We need someone to act as minute taker for our 6 Board of Trustees meetings. Must be able to draft agendas, minutes and action points to circulate to the chair and chief executive.

Admin Work

  • Helping with preparing publicity materials
  • Accompanying carers on social events
  • Compiling carers information packs.

Assisting with creative activities

Helping with, or leading on, the running of projects and clubs for carers.

Befriending

Providing one-to-one support to a carer feeling isolated by their caring role.

Carers Ambassador

We are looking for people to act as Carer Support Wiltshire representatives in their local parish. This role will include:

  • Contributing regular articles to parish newsletters
  • Putting posters up in the area
  • Making links with GP surgeries
  • Attending local cafés
  • Liaising with village hall events
  • Attending networking events
  • Linking up with our communications officer for newsletters and other information.

Carers Café Facilitator

To facilitate a monthly carers cafe and to promote a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for the attendees:

  • Promoting the café locally and encourage and keep a record of attendance
  • Reporting back any needs or concerns about the well-being of attendees to the Volunteer Coordinator (or other designated worker).

Carer Hub

We are working closely with Bath & North East Somerset Carers’ Centre to launch a brand new Carer Hub at the hospital and we need the help of volunteers to make it a reality.

Could you be there for a few hours to support carers who are visiting the hospital? Find out more

Complementary Therapies

To provide complementary therapies, or beauty treatments, to carers either at a carers centre or in a local venue.

Counsellor

To provide confidential counselling to carers on a short term basis. Ideally you should be qualified to a minimum of Diploma level but 2nd year students looking to gain hours may be considered. In-house supervision, insurance and ongoing support is provided.

Trustee

Being part of our Board of Trustees involved in the governance of Carer Support Wiltshire. We’re currently recruiting, but the process is a bit different to other volunteering roles. Follow this link for more information: apply to be a trustee

Talk and Support Service Volunteer

A rewarding role that makes a real difference. Your job will be to offer support to a Carer via regular telephone contact.
