This year, Carers Week is set to be the biggest ever drive to reach out to carers in the UK.

The Carers Week Quest is an exciting new initiative to encourage improved collaborative working in local communities to reach out to carers. It aims to reach out to thousands of carers in the UK who are currently missing out on services and support.

Nationally, Carers Week is delivered by a partnership between Age UK, Carers Trust, Carers UK, Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie Cancer Care, MS Society and Parkinson’s UK.

On a local level, Carer Support Wiltshire are working closely with the following organisations to try and reach more carers:

MONDAY 9TH JUNE 2014

Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership event
Jenner House, Chippenham from 2.00pm – 4.00pm

What is the Triangle of Care?
How does AWP’s Family, Friends’ and Carers’ Charter help us to deliver better services?
You are invited to join us to learn more about both of these and how AWP is using them to improve services for carers.
The event is for carers, AWP staff and staff from voluntary sector carer organisations.

TUESDAY 10TH JUNE 2014

Carers Open Day
Salisbury Medical Practice, Fisherton House, Salisbury SP2 7FD - Starts at 8am
You do not need to be registered with the surgery to attend the event which has been organised to celebrate Carers Week.
The open day will host a variety of activities and local services.

WEDNESDAY 11TH JUNE 2014

A trip to the New Forest
Departs at 1:30pm, returns approx. 5pm.

Do you care for someone with dementia? Alzheimer’s Society in Salisbury are hosting a lovely trip to the New Forest, visiting Bramble Hill Hotel for a cream tea.
You are also welcome to bring along the person you care for too! They would like a contribution of £2 per person towards the cream tea.
