Wiltshire GP practices triumph in their work supporting carers

GP practices across Wiltshire have been recognised for their work with unpaid carers by Carer Support Wiltshire.

The ‘Investors in Carers’ awards were presented at a ceremony at the Corn Exchange in Devizes on Monday 3rd November.

The ceremony celebrated the continued success of the GP Accreditation Scheme which is delivered by the charity, which supports carers across the county.

The scheme, now in its second year, saw the introduction of the new top award of ‘Gold Plus’ for practices which have gone that extra mile in supporting carers.

Helen Gough, Health and Communities Engagement Worker at Carer Support Wiltshire, said: “The fact that 20 GP practices were awarded the new ‘Gold Plus’ level shows the level of commitment to supporting carers across the county.

“This event gave us the opportunity to say thank you and provided everyone with the chance to celebrate the partnership working which has meant we are reaching and supporting more and more carers.”

A carer who is a member of the GP Accreditation Panel which allocates the awards said: “I still think it’s one of the best things to come out of Carer Support Wiltshire and am proud to be a little involved with it.”
